Brian Maucere began teaching group fitness in the early 90's as a karate instructor. He taught several hundred adults and children by the time he left for college in 1996. After college, Brian became a firefighter and finished his masters degree in Executive Leadership.
A surprise opportunity in 2009 led him to Iraq as a contract firefighter. It was here that Brian first tried CrossFit. It only took a few months working out on Camp Victory to realize CrossFit was a highly effective fitness program. By the time he returned home in late 2010, it was obvious what needed to be done. A few short months later in January, 2011, U R CrossFit opened its doors. Since that day, Brian has lead thousands of hours worth of group fitness and had the honor of helping change many lives through fitness and nutrition. Brian's biggest accomplishment recently was removing all added sugar from his diet. The health benefits far surpassed his greatest expectations and now Brian gives lectures on the topic.
Amanda Maucere has always been a foodie. While serving in the military with the U.S. Coast Guard in 2004, Amanda realized her dream was to not just love food and nutrition, but to help others too. In 2008, Amanda graduated with her masters from Georgia State University and quickly became a Registered Dietitian.
Her first interview was with Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and they hired her on the spot. 6 years later, Amanda accepted a position as the head dietitian at NuVista Living. In her "spare time", Amanda is also the resident dietitian on staff at U R CrossFit and runs her own consultation company called Youtriment Nutrition Counseling. Somewhere in the other hours of the day, she manages to be an excellent mother to Sofia, 4, and wife of 9 years to Brian.
Brian and Amanda often write blogs and post videos about a variety of topics focused on better fitness and nutrition. They have a lot of great advice and they want to share it with as many people as possible. Sign up below and never miss a post.
